Summer Arts II:

Featuring the Work of Artists in Residence

2014 Inspired by Wilderness Exhbition

The Schlueter Art Gallery hosts the second annual exhibit celebrating the work of Artists in Residence in natural spaces. Artists have played a major historical role inspiring governments and the public to protect unique and diverse landscapes because of their art. Artists continue the tradition today. More than 29 U.S. national parks, monuments, and wildlife refuges, along with numerous international parks and private preserves, select and host artists each year to make artworks reflecting the special qualities of that place and their individual response. Wisconsin Lutheran College is privileged to show the work of artists Diane Bywaters, Kirsten Furlong, Laura Ibbotson, Geri Schrab, Roy Staab, Jan Wurm, and WLC art professor Kristin Gjerdset.

The exhibit also includes work by WLC alumni who have been Artists in Residence at Whitefish Dunes State Park. The WLC Art Department has been collaborating with Whitefish Dunes since 2000, selecting WLC students for the program to gain professional experience and grow in appreciation of natural spaces.
