Employment at Wisconsin Lutheran College

Presidential Search Information

Wisconsin Lutheran College is a small, four-year, private, coed, Christian liberal arts college affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. We operate on a semester system and confer BA and BS degrees. Our student body numbers 708 as of fall 2007. We expect to attain a target goal of 750 in a few years. The college is financially strong and is in a period of major construction with a new building appearing every two or three years. The 19-acre park-like campus is located on the western edge of Milwaukee, one mile from the intersection of I-94 and I-894, thirteen miles from Mitchell International Airport.

Wisconsin Lutheran College strives to establish a distinctive identity as one of America's finest liberal arts colleges characterized by faithfulness to the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions, rigorous pursuit of academic excellence, and dedication to preparing Christian leaders for the Church and the world.

At Wisconsin Lutheran we value quality teaching and active scholarship. Our goal is to deliver a rigorous, personalized education within a loving and caring Christian community of scholars and students. Currently our entering freshmen have a 24 mean composite ACT and a mid 50% ACT range of 22-27.

Education at Wisconsin Lutheran also involves the spiritual development of our students. Because of this spiritual dimension, a Wisconsin Lutheran faculty or academic staff position is a form of public ministry. Accordingly, the College seeks to recruit faculty and staff who are active members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) or the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS) who share our commitment to quality Christian higher education and faithfulness to the Scriptures. After identifying qualified candidates, the College (under the auspices of the praesidium of the Southeastern Wisconsin District of the WELS) forwards a "call" document to the selected individual.

Candidates for faculty positions at Wisconsin Lutheran College should possess the doctorate or equivalent. Doctoral students will also be considered. Previous college or university teaching experience is preferred. Candidates under consideration will be asked to supply a curriculum vita or resumé, and transcripts. Names of qualified candidates should be E-mailed to john.kolander@wlc.edu. Candidate information may also be sent to:
