Merit Awards and Scholarships

Wisconsin Lutheran College awards undergraduate students a variety of scholarships in recognition of merit or academic achievement.

  • Merit Awards from Wisconsin Lutheran College

    Students must be first-time, full-time freshmen and admitted by April 1 for scholarship consideration. Students admitted after this date will be considered on a space-available and funds-available basis. Students may qualify for one of the following Merit Awards.

    Cumulative GPA is based on an unweighted 4.0 scale. SAT score is comprised of critical reading and math scores. 

    PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $15,000/YR

    Incoming freshmen who have a composite ACT score of at least 27 or an SAT score of 1210 AND have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.70 are eligible to receive a $15,000 Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship is renewable each year, at a maximum of four years, by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.00 at WLC, for a lifetime value of $60,000.

    ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP: $12,000/YR

    Incoming freshmen who have a composite ACT score of at least 23 or an SAT score of 1060 AND have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.30 are eligible to receive a $12,000 Academic Scholarship. This scholarship is renewable each year, at a maximum of four years, by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.75 at WLC, for a lifetime value of $48,000.

    COLLEGIATE SCHOLARSHIP: $10,000/YR

    Incoming freshmen who have a composite ACT score of at least 21 or an SAT score of 980 OR have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.70 are eligible to receive a $10,000 Collegiate Scholarship. This scholarship is renewable each year, at a maximum of four years, for students who remain in good standing at WLC, for a lifetime value of $40,000.

  • FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS

    Art Scholarship

    $1,000 per year for four years

    Incoming freshmen and transfer students with exceptional artistic ability are encouraged to apply for a $1,000 Art Scholarship, renewable each year for a lifetime value of $4,000. Apply by February 8, 2016.

    Music Scholarship

    Up to $3,360 per year for four years

    Incoming freshmen and transfer students with exceptional musical ability are encouraged to apply and audition for a Music Scholarship. This scholarship, with an annual value of up to $3,360, is renewable each year for a lifetime value of up to $13,440. Apply by February 8, 2016.

    Theatre Scholarship

    $1,000 per year for four years

    Incoming freshmen and transfer students with exceptional dramatic ability are encouraged to apply and audition for a $1,000 Theatre Scholarship, renewable each year for a lifetime value of $4,000. Apply by February 20, 2016.

    CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS

    PARTNERS IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

    $1,000 per year for four years

    Available to incoming freshmen who attend a Christian high school and continue their education at WLC. The $1,000 Partners in Christian Education Scholarship is renewable each year, for alifetime value of $4,000.

    CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP SUMMIT SCHOLARSHIP

    $1,000 per year for four years

    Available to recipients of the Partners in Christian Education Scholarship who also attend a  Christian Leadership Summit at WLC. The $1,000 Christian Leadership Summit Scholarship is renewable each year, for a lifetime value of $4,000.

    HONORS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP

    First-time, full-time freshmen accepted into the Honors Program receive a $1,000 scholarship. This scholarship is renewable annually, for a maximum of four-years, as long as the student remains enrolled in the program.

    HOMESCHOOLED STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

    First-time, full-time freshmen who were homeschooled for high school receive a $1,000 scholarship. This scholarship is renewable annually for a maximum of four-years.

    TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

    TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP

    Up to $11,000 per year, renewable

    Incoming students with 18 or more transferrable credits with a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.00 receive the Level I scholarship of $9,000. Those students with a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.50 receive the Level II scholarship of $11,000. Transfer scholarships are renewable each year as long as the student is maintaining satisfactory progress at WLC.

    TRANSFER GRANT

    $7,000

    A $7,000 grant program for full-time sophomores, juniors, or seniors who transfer with a cumulative college GPA of 2.50 or higher. The Transfer Grant and Transfer Scholarship are mutually exclusive.

    WISCONSIN ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

    A $2,250 scholarship is available for Wisconsin high school seniors who have the highest GPA in their school, as designated by their high school.

    One-half of the scholarship is funded by the State of Wisconsin and the other half by Wisconsin Lutheran College.

    ENDOWED AND DONATED SCHOLARSHIPS

    Donors and foundations provide annual funds for special scholarships for upperclassmen. Recipients are recommended by the academic department and approved by the financial aid committee.
