MEET DAVID EGELSEER '89

Major: Business Administration

Current Roles: After working as a sales representative for LKQ Smart Parts for 24 years, David currently serves as treasurer for Grace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. In addition, he volunteers for Interfaith Caregivers of Washington County and serves as the board chair of the investment and building committee for Christian Family Solutions.

Why did you choose WLC?

Jeff Weber ’84, who worked in WLC’s admissions office at the time, made a great recruiting pitch. Just about whenever I see him, I remind him that “I came to WLC because of you!”

Tell us about your favorite WLC experience.

My favorite WLC experience was the game "Kris Kringle." I'm not sure how long it lasted, but in December you would sign up to receive a series of problem-solving clues from another person, which would eventually lead to a small gift. I got so into it! I would even occasionally skip a class to work on solving the clues, and I never skipped class.

Who is your favorite WLC professor or staff member?

My favorite professor was Ken Cherney. I recall there was an article about him in a late 1980s WLC Magazine issue in which I was quoted about his teaching style. While Prof. Cherney could teach very well from a textbook, he would use his real-world business experience to make the topic even more instructive and relevant.

David's familyWhat have you accomplished on your bucket list since graduation?

I had always hoped to have a Christian wife and children, and have indeed been blessed with a wife of 27 years and counting and three wonderful daughters.

What is next on your bucket list to complete?

I would like to take a trip to Israel. My daughter, Carissa, was there in January as part of a college course and greatly enjoyed it.

"In the times we live, Christian principles and morals are dismissed or even polarized by many colleges and universities. As a parent of college-age children, I think it is very important for students to have the option of attending a school where Christian principles and morals are championed."
