Why did you choose WLC?

When it came to attending Wisconsin Lutheran College, there were three different reasons why I chose to attend. The first reason was because of the class sizes and not attending a massive university where I was just going to be a number. The second reason was because I had the opportunity to keep playing the sport that I love - football. The third and final reason that I chose WLC was because when I was taking a tour on campus, I just had this gut feeling that this was the place where I wanted to be.

Tell us about your favorite WLC experience.

My favorite experiences while at WLC were taking two trips to Grenada to teach a Bible Science Camp. Being able to teach and worship with those kids there is an experience I am going to remember the rest of my life. The students were so grateful to have the opportunity to be able to learn and grow. I have never seen people so happy despite the circumstances they have been in. I also have to throw in that is where I met my wife, Megan (Wisniewski) Boling '11.

Who is your favorite WLC professor or staff member?

It's hard to just pick one individual that was a favorite of mine. Two individuals who had a profound impact on my education at WLC were Prof. Holman and Dr. Olson. The reason I chose these two is because they were always willing to make time for me. It meant so much to be able sit down and meet with them one-on-one. I also have to give props to my coaches: Coach Miller, Coach Fossum, and Coach Murphy were there for me as well. These men reached out to me, met with me, and provided encouragement and motivation when times were tough.

What have you accomplished since graduation?

Since graduation I have accomplished quite a bit. My wife and I have been married for the past eight and a half years, and we have been blessed with two sons (Brayden, age 6, and Camden, age 4). I have also been blessed with serving children in Milwaukee through my teaching career for the past nine years.

What is next on your bucket list to complete?

My next item of business is completing my master's degree. This May, the plan is to complete my degree in Leadership and Innovation at WLC. Upon graduation and obtaining my principal's license, I will serve as a dean of students.

"I support WLC because it gave me the education in order to be an effective teacher. The high expectations, workload, and clinical experience that WLC provided made me the teacher that I am today. Without those experiences, I wouldn't have made it in the field of education."
