The Marvin M. Schwan Library provides resources, services, and facilities to support the teaching, scholarship, and service of the students, faculty, and staff of Wisconsin Lutheran College.

    • ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials (EBSCOhost): Access to journal articles, book reviews, & collections of essays in all fields of religion with some full text.
    • BioCyc: Collection of Pathway/Genome Databases (PGDBs) plus software tools for exploring them.
    • Biography in Context (Gale): Information on historically significant figures and present-day newsmakers.
    • Business Insights - Global (Gale): Case studies, company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, and journal articles.
    • Business Source Premier (EBSCOhost): Research database with full text provided back to 1886, and searchable cited references back to 1998.
    • Chemical Abstracts/STNEasy (Scientific & Technical Information Network): On campus access only, limited to these times: Sunday noon to Monday 5 a.m.; Monday-Friday 5 p.m. to 5 a.m.; Friday 5 p.m. to Saturday 9 p.m.
    • Chronicle of Higher Education: Published since 1966, it is the leading source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators.
    • CINAHL Plus with Full Text (EBSCOhost): Nursing and allied health research database provides full text journal coverage dating back to 1937.
    • Communication and Mass Media Complete (EBSCOhost): Incorporates CommSearch and Mass Media Articles Index with full text journal articles as well as book chapters, etc.
    • Education Database (ProQuest): Journal articles & dissertations on theory & practice of education at all levels including special education, home schooling & adult education.
    • Education Research Complete (EBSCOhost): Bibliographic & full-text database covering scholarly research relating to all areas of education.

    • Loeb Classical Library: The written treasures of the ancient Greek and Roman world digitized, with Greek and Latin texts alongside English translations.
    • MLA International Bibliography (EBSCOhost): Modern Language Association index of journal articles, books and dissertations on language, literature, and linguistics.
    • Opposing Viewpoints in Context (Gale): Information and opinions on social issues with continuously updated viewpoints, topic overviews, full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, statistics, images, videos, audio files, and links to vetted websites.
    • Oxford English Dictionary (OED): Widely regarded as the accepted authority on the English language, the OED is a guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of past and present words from across the English-speaking world. Updated every three months.
    • Oxford Music Online (Oxford University Press): Includes Groves dictionaries of Music & Musicians, Jazz, Opera, Women Composers, American Music, Musical Instruments, the Oxford Companion to Music, and Dictionary of Music.
    • PsycINFO with PsycARTICLES (American Psychological Association): Full text from professional journals, chapters, books, reports, theses, and dissertations.
    • PscyTESTS & Mental Measurements Yearbook (EBSCOhost): PscyTESTS produced by the American Psychological Association includes test instruments for use in teaching and research. Mental Measurements Yearbook produced by the Buros Center for Testing at the University of Nebraska evaluates test products in psychology, education, business and leadership.
    • PubMed (National Library of Medicine): PubMed provides access to citations from MEDLINE and additional life science journals.
    • SPORTDiscus: Full text database for sports and sports medicine research.
    • Collection of instructional materials about children's and young adult books and authors.
    • U.S. Newsstream (ProQuest): Current and archival to 1980s U.S. news featuring key national and regional sources including The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Newsday, and Chicago Tribune as well as over 80 Gannett titles.
    • Web of Science (Thomson Reuters): Includes Science Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Indexes 1899-to present.
    • Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Essay File: Documents, audio and video of essays written by WELS pastors and professors for presentation at WELS conferences.

    • Requesting/checking out library materials and accessing databases from off campus require a valid Warrior OneCard or ID card from a SWITCH library.
    • Patrons are responsible for all materials checked out on their card or name.
    • Renew or check library requests by logging in to TOPCAT.
      • Library materials are loaned for 28 days with the option to renew 2 more times.
      • Items cannot be renewed if past due date or if items are on hold for another patron.
      • DVDs, CDs, and interlibrary loans from other libraries have shorter loan periods and may not be renewable.
      • Laptop computers, digital cameras, camcorders, and items from Reserves have shorter loan periods and may not be renewable.
    • Library notices are emailed to patron's WLC email address.
    • Patrons with overdue items may not access online databases, checkout more items, or renew items online until items are renewed or returned.
    • The main floor of the library is an excellent location for collaborative learning and conversation as well as the location for movie DVDs, music CDs, computers, and the Student Success Center.
    • The upper floor of the library holds the main library book collection and is a quiet place to study, so please be considerate of others and keep conversations to a minimum.
    • To use a library classroom for practicing a presentation or study group, check availability on the Campus Events Calendar, then reserve a space online.
