Neuroscience Major

Understanding the mind-body connection can have profound, positive effects on everything from approaches to mental health treatment and addiction recovery, to improving sports performance, teaching young people, caring for aging populations, and so much more. Earn your degree from WLC in this rapidly growing, versatile discipline.

Neuroscience is one of the fastest growing scientific fields in the world. Through undergraduate research alongside expert faculty in biology, psychology, and neuroscience, you’ll explore the complex and fascinating inner workings of the human brain and nervous system.

Examining the Mind-Body Connection

In this area of study students examine the development, plasticity, and pathology of the nervous system, and explore what drives human behavior. You’ll review contemporary evidence related to:

  • Attention
  • Motor control
  • Executive function
  • Perception
  • Memory
  • Language
  • Consciousness
  • Emotion
  • Ethical reasoning

Through your coursework and research studies you’ll learn to apply molecular, anatomic, physiologic, cognitive, and behavioral methods to understand the incredibly complex central nervous system.

Neuroscience majors make a real and measurable difference in their communities, across the nation, and abroad. Studying the health sciences at WLC, you'll receive a strong science foundation that supports your growth and development, the personal care and attention of our faculty, and our small-campus charm in a big city with access to diverse healthcare facilities.

You'll graduate confident, fully prepared to live your purpose.
