Academic Success Center
The Academic Success Center (ASC) serves as the hub for efficient and vital connections to advisors, professors and students, creating relationships and providing services to enhance students' learning and academic success. The Academic Success Center exists to provide a high level of support for ALL students.
The ASC serves to create a campus-wide awareness of the unique and diverse needs of all learners and share educational best practice techniques which will contribute to the success of students. Through the ASC we reach out to bright, motivated students who may not have had the same academic opportunities as others as well as those who have serious learning skill deficits, without compromising our college's current high academic standards.
Furthermore, the ASC creates a venue for students to receive personal academic coaching, individualized tutorial help, and opportunities to participate in small learning groups. In addition, based on personal learning style inventories and strengths based assessments, students receive guidance in individual study strategies to benefit their unique learning style.
Faculty also benefit from the ASC as a source for locating alternative teaching strategies that will serve to meet unique student needs. The ASC provides a venue for introduction and training in the use of new technology based teaching tools. It also facilitates the sharing and collaboration of teaching/learning strategies. Coordination and perpetuation of collegial support assists the faculty in addressing the increasingly diverse body of learners we serve at WLC.
