ABOUT THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Nekas-Thoma headshotChristine Nekas-Thoma, a native and resident of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in English Education (6-12) and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Writing from Northeastern University in Boston. Since 1996, she has been teaching high school English and now also teaches advanced writing for students through UW-Green Bay.

The tapestry of Christine’s life is woven with threads of adversity and triumph, love, and loss. Her eventful journey is marked by a profound spiritual awakening, wherein she has developed a stronger relationship with God. Through her memoir, God’s Whispers: Your Anchor Through Life’s Storms, she eloquently chronicles her pilgrimage to a deeper relationship with Him and seeing His hand at work in her life. Through poignant anecdotes and profound insights, Christine imparts invaluable lessons on recognizing the subtle whispers of the Holy Spirit amidst life’s tempests.

In her spare time, Christine enjoys spending time with her husband (Phil Thoma, WLC Class of ’98) and her two boys. She also enjoys finding inspiration in nature, as well as playing and coaching basketball, tennis, and piano.
