MILWAUKEE – The award-winning Karkowska Sisters Duo, a nationally and internationally acclaimed ensemble, will perform at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Friday, September 18, 2009, at 8 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall.
The Karkowska Sisters Duo has been praised by the press for performing "Virtuoso pieces with virtuoso accompaniment" (Union Journal, Chicago) and "telling fantastic stories with music that literally takes one's breath away" (Fairmont Chamber Music Society). Anna (violinist) and Kasha (pianist) Karkowska have toured North America and Europe extensively, always meeting with raving reviews. Their debut at Carnegie Hall was an unmitigated success crowned with standing ovations and encores. The duo intersperses elements of comedic banter to make concerts entertaining as well as inspiring.
The Karkowska Sisters Duo is sponsored in part by the Wisconsin Arts Board and Waterstone Bank. The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance at 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. Tickets are $20 general, $18 seniors and $10 students. To purchase tickets, call the WLC box office at (414) 443-8802 or visit wlc.edu/arts.
Since 1996, the Wisconsin Lutheran College Center for Arts and Performance has been providing a comprehensive program of performing and visual arts and educational and community events for students and the people of southeastern Wisconsin.
