Tag team approach adds broader learning opportunities to recital
Date Posted: October 20, 2008
MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Lutheran College Tag Team Piano Recital will take place on Tuesday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall of the Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Avenue. The recital is free and open to the public.
The Tag Team recital features piano and organ students playing the same pieces but different movements within those pieces. The benefit of the tag team approach is that the younger students experience a full scale piano recital without having to prepare and play the whole recital themselves.
"The goal is for students to learn from their peers as well as from the instructor," says Dr. Juanita Becker, associate professor of music and piano instructor. "We want students to develop critical listening skills and the ability to verbalize musical concepts and constructive criticism."
Students will share performances of an organ sonata, selected Bach Inventions, Brahms character pieces, Muczyinski Preludes and selections from Marianelli's musical score to "Pride and Prejudice." For more information visit wlc.edu/arts or call (414) 443-8802.
