Art exhibition offers two free workshops and opportunity to watch an artist at work during an open studio session

League of Milwaukee Artists imageMilwaukee – The League of Milwaukee Artists will display an exhibition entitled “Presenting the Stars,” a myriad collection of two-dimensional work from June 26 through August 15 in the Schlueter Art Gallery at Wisconsin Lutheran College. 

Two workshops and an open studio will be held in conjunction with this exhibit. All events are free and open to the public. To register for one of the workshops call (414) 443-8873 or e-mail anne.wendland@wlc.edu. Space is limited for the workshops so register early.

Beginning Watercolor Workshop:  July 25, 10-11:45 a.m.

Instructor:  Kathleen Flaherty
Location:  Schwartz Painting Studio (F241) located in the art wing of the Center for Arts and Performance
Materials:  Artists should bring their own material consisting of 180 lb or 300 lb watercolor paper, #12 watercolor brush and three watercolor paints in primary colors (alizarin crimson, cerulean blue and a yellow). Transparent colors are preferred and paper toweling is recommended.

How to set up for Plein Aire Painting Workshop:  July 25, 1-2:15 p.m.

Location:  Eberle Drawing Studio (F230) located in the art wing of the Center for Arts and Performance
Materials:  Artists should bring sketch/note taking materials. Weather permitting, class will proceed outside. 

Open Studio: July 25, 1-3 p.m.

Instructor:  J. Michael Tucci
Location:  Schwartz Painting Studio (F241) located in the art wing of the Center for Arts and Performance
Watch Tucci at work as she creates figurative and self portrait pieces in a combination of watercolor and pastels. Spectators are invited to watch, ask questions and come and go throughout the process.

The exhibition takes place in the Schlueter Art Gallery located in the Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Avenue. An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, June 26 from 6-8 p.m. in the gallery. Summer hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Closed Saturdays and Sundays.
