Wisconsin Lutheran College Theatre Department Presents Dead Man Walking

Date Posted: March 20, 2008

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College Theatre Department presents Tim Robbins’ Dead Man Walking, April 11-13 and 17-19. Performances are at 8 p.m., with the exception of Sunday, April 13 at 3 p.m., in the Raabe Theatre of the Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Ave.

Based on the real-life accounts of Sister Helen Prejean, Dead Man Walking is an exploration into life on death row and capital punishment in America. While the dialogue of the script closely resembles the film from 1995 starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, this stage version uses highly theatrical devices to depict the numerous characters and multiple locations. The societal issue of capital punishment is debated through the voices and intentions of the characters, but even more than that, Dead Man Walking is the story of one person’s expression of Christian love.

On Thursday, April 17, a talkback will be held immediately following the performance. For more information or to order tickets, call the Box Office at (414) 443-8802 or visit wlc.edu/arts.

Wisconsin Lutheran College is a four-year, Christian liberal arts college located on the west side of Milwaukee.
