Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band to perform an all-Alfred Reed concert

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band offers an all-Alfred Reed concert Sunday, February 25, at 3 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall at Wisconsin Lutheran College. The performance will feature music both composed and arranged by Reed including: "A Festive Overture," "A Festive Prelude," "Rushmore," Bach's "Thus Do You Fare, My Jesus," and Roland Seitz's "March 'Grandioso.'"

Alfred Reed, who passed away in September of 2005, was one of America's most prolific and frequently performed composers, with more than 200 published works for concert band, wind ensemble, orchestra, chorus and chamber ensemble. He studied at both the Juilliard School and Baylor University. Reed served as a professor of music at University of Miami, where he headed the first music department to create a college-level music business curriculum.

The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance at 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. Tickets are $5 general, $4 senior and $2 students and may be purchased through the box office at (414) 443-8802 or online at wlc.edu/arts.
