Annual "Warrior 5K Through the Park" to Mark 3rd Year at Greenfield Park
October 26, 2005
MILWAUKEE - The 3rd annual "Warrior 5K Through the Park" will once again be held at Greenfield Park in West Allis on Saturday, November 5 at 10 a.m.
One of the only 5K cross-country style races open to the public in southeastern Wisconsin, the Warrior 5K is a fund-raiser for the Wisconsin Lutheran College cross country teams. Last year, more than 120 athletes competed in this scenic run in early November, and this year event organizers are hoping for more.
"Last year was great, with participation up nearly 40 percent," says Steve Travis, head cross country coach at Wisconsin Lutheran College and race director. "Each year, everyone tells us how much they appreciate the course, and how to many, it takes them back to their younger days."
The 2005 "Warrior 5K Through the Park" begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 5. The race will begin on the southwest corner of Greenfield Park in West Allis in front of Pavilion 3A. Parking is available in the adjacent parking lot at no costs.
Onsite registration and packet pick-up will be from 8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. Individual runners who register before November 1 can save $2. Teams of 4 can save even more. To register before the event, visit www.signmeupsports.com. After November 1, fees will be $16 for individuals and $56 for teams.
