MILWAUKEE  – Dr. Paul Beck, professor of history at Wisconsin Lutheran College, will sign copies of his new book Columns of Vengeance: Soldiers, Sioux, and the Punitive Expeditions, 1863-1864 at a reception on Wednesday, November 6.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Center for Arts & Performance Schlueter Art Gallery, 8815 W. Wisconsin Avenue, at 3:30 p.m. Copies of Beck's fourth book will be available for purchase for $20 (cash or check).

A graduate of James Madison University (M.S.) and Marquette University (Ph.D.), Prof. Beck also is the author of Soldiers, Settlers and Sioux: Fort Ridgely and the Settlement of the Minnesota River Valley; The First Sioux War: The Grattan Fight and Blue Water Creek, 1854-1856; and Inkpaduta: Dakota Leader.
