Choirs to present Christmas Festival Concert

MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Lutheran Choir, Chamber Choir, and Chapel Choir will present the annual Christmas Festival Concert November 29, 30, and December 1 at 8 p.m. and December 2 at 3 p.m. in Wisconsin Lutheran College's Schwan Concert Hall. More than 100 student musicians will perform sacred choral music under the direction of Dr. James Nowack and Prof. Carolyn Fons.

This year's theme is "Arise, Shine, For Your Light Has Come." Groups performing in the concert will be the 69-voice Wisconsin Lutheran Choir, the 28-voice Chamber Choir, the 28-voice Chapel Choir, and a festival orchestra.

Highlights for the Wisconsin Lutheran Choir include G.F. Handel's For Unto Us a Child is Born (from Messiah), Paul Mealor's rapturous Ubi Caritas, and a new arrangement of In Dulci Jubilo by Matthew Culloton.

The Chamber Choir will perform Christmas music by English, Welsh, and Irish composers, including All This Night by Gerald Finzi and Sir Christemas by William Mathias.

The Chapel Choir will be highlighted in a performance of The First Noel, arranged by American composer Dan Forrest and accompanied by the festival orchestra.
