Choirs to present Christmas Festival Concert

MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Lutheran Choir, Chamber Choir, and Chapel Choir will present the Christmas Festival Concert December 1, 2, and 3 at 8 p.m. and December 4 at 3 p.m. in the Wisconsin Lutheran College Schwan Concert Hall. More than 100 student and guest musicians will perform sacred choral music under the direction of Dr. James Nowack and Prof. Carolyn Fons.
The 2011 concert is titled "What Wondrous Love is This." Wisconsin Lutheran Choir highlights include The Holly and the Ivy by Stephen Paulus; O Day Full of Grace, arranged by F. Melius Christiansen; There Shall a Star from Jacob by Felix Mendelssohn; and the program's namesake, What Wondrous Love, arranged by Robert Scholz.
The Chapel Choir's performance will include When Christ was Born of Mary Free by Jean Ashworth Bartle, Listen to the Sounds in Heaven! arranged by John C. Phillips, and Joy to the World.
The Chamber Choir will perform "An English Christmas," which will include What Sweeter Music by John Rutter and I Saw Three Ships, arranged by Mack Wilberg.
The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance at 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. Tickets are $10 general, $8 for senior citizens, and $5 for students. To order tickets, call the WLC box office at 414.443.8802 or visit wlc.edu/arts.
