MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin Lutheran College surpassed a total enrollment of 1,000 students for the 2011-2012 academic year, which began August 29.

"As our 325 new students arrive on campus, we are not only celebrating the start of a new school year, but we also are celebrating a milestone in Wisconsin Lutheran College's history," said Dr. Daniel Johnson, Wisconsin Lutheran College president. "Even during these recent uncertain economic times, this college has continued to grow, witnessing a third consecutive year of record enrollment. We thank God for that, and for the hard work of our admissions team as well as our faculty, staff, alumni, Board of Regents, and the donors who believe in our mission of preparing young Christian leaders for lives of service. But above all we thank the Lord who has so richly blessed this college."

Wisconsin Lutheran College started as a two-year associate's degree-granting institution in 1973. It has grown to become a four-year liberal arts college with 35 majors, including strong programs in teacher education (featuring an urban teaching center), nursing, business administration, and several pre-professional programs in the health care and medical fields. The physical campus has grown to encompass eight core facilities at 8800 West Bluemound Road on the border of Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, as well as a 15-acre outdoor athletic complex west of Highway 45 on Watertown Plank Road.

2011 Move In

"The growth that this college has experienced, and the level of excellence it has established and maintained during its 38 years, is extraordinary," said Johnson, shown in the photo at left speaking with parents and students during move-in day on August 26. "We are beyond grateful for this development and remain focused on serving and educating our students so that they will graduate as well-prepared and effective servant leaders for their communities in their chosen careers."
