Private high schools to participate in 2011 Jazz Festival

MILWAUKEE – Private high school instrumentalists from Wisconsin and their directors will attend Wisconsin Lutheran College's 2011 Jazz Festival on Saturday, January 22. This all-day event culminates in a joint performance at 7 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall.

Some of the concert selections will include Glenn Miller's In the Mood, Tommy Dorsey's theme song I'm Getting Sentimental Over You, and Buddy Morrow's theme song Night Train.

Participating high schools are Fox Valley Lutheran (Appleton), Kettle Moraine Lutheran (Jackson), Lakeside Lutheran (Lake Mills), Luther Preparatory School (Watertown), Manitowoc Lutheran (Manitowoc), Pius XI (Milwaukee), and Wisconsin Lutheran (Milwaukee).

High school ensembles participating in the Jazz Festival will take part in performance clinics and master classes with professional musicians serving as clinicians.

Tickets to the festival concert are free, but seating is limited. Reserve your tickets by calling the Wisconsin Lutheran College box office at (414) 443-8802. The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Avenue.

Since 1996, the Wisconsin Lutheran College Center for Arts and Performance has been providing a comprehensive program of performing and visual arts and educational and community events for students and the people of southeastern Wisconsin.
