Mountain: The Art of U.S. National Parks Artists in Residence

June 5 to July 31, 2015

2015 Mountain Exhibition Image

"The mountains are calling and I must go..." – John Muir

And to the mountains artists have been. Celebrate all things mountain in this third annual exhibit of US National Park Artists in Residence. Artists, along with writers and poets, have played a major historical role in establishing national parks through their art, inspiring the preservation of America's unique landscapes for future generations. Artists continue the tradition today. More than 29 U.S. national parks, monuments, and wildlife refuges host artists each year to make work reflecting their individual response to the landscape from a contemporary, current perspective. Wisconsin Lutheran College's Schlueter Art Gallery is once again privileged to host past artists in residence who will share their visions and recognize their contribution.

The exhibit will also include a special section of photos and art from the WLC community who have traveled to mountain sites on personal adventures, as well as through trips offered by WLC faculty and staff.
