Background

I started teaching at WLC in 2015 as an adjunct instructor in the Adult and Graduate Studies Department. As of 2021 I was called to teach and head up the Criminal Justice Department full time. I live nearby in Wauwatosa with my husband, three children, and four chickens. Prior to joining the faculty at WLC I worked as a defense attorney with the Wisconsin State Public Defender, as well as a senior attorney with the Waukesha County Corporation Counsel. I continue to travel around the state providing training to lawyers, judges, law enforcement and social workers. 

Teaching

• Adult and Graduate Studies: Business Law
• Criminal Justice: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Legal Studies, Criminal Investigation Procedure, Juvenile Delinquency, Criminal Law and Procedure, Criminal Punishment, Legal Research and Writing, and other courses within the Criminal Justice department.

Research Interests

I have always been interested and involved in issues related to criminal justice, such as equal access to justice, reforming the juvenile justice system, and expanding mental health and elder abuse awareness and resources. 

Scholarly Works

I frequently present on topics including, but not limited to: Criminal Justice Reform, Criminal Defense, Prosecuting Elder-Abuse, Juvenile Justice, Client Communication, Effective Trial Skills, Crisis Intervention and Response for Law Enforcement, Mental Health Law, Elder Law and Financial Crimes, Probate, and Advocacy Skills.
