Prior to arriving at Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2002, I started the theatre program and served on the faculty of Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. Before moving to Iowa I was a high school teacher in Chicago. Many years ago I founded and was the managing director of the Southern Lakes Repertory Theatre in the Lake Geneva area. My wife, Susan, and I currently live in West Allis. We are proud and pleased to say that both of our children (as well as one of their spouses) are WLC graduates. In my time away from campus I enjoy following the Brewers (and all baseball, actually), working on my lake property “up north,” and herfing.

Professional Experience

I have been a scene designer for area professional and academic shows, a guest instructor/clinician at various festivals and conferences, the national chair and conference planner for the Theatre as a Liberal Art (TLA) focus group of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) as well as presented papers and chaired panels at the ATHE national conference, the president of the Association of Lutheran College Faculties (ALCF), and a participant in a Fulbright-Hayes-sponsored group seminar in Russia and Eastern Europe. I hold additional professional memberships in the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and Christians in Theatre Arts (CITA).

At WLC I have served on the Curriculum Committee, the Assessment Committee, and the Student Affairs Committee in addition to a couple of ad hoc committees. I am the treasurer of my congregation, Woodlawn Evangelical Lutheran Church.
