My master's thesis was on teacher accountability. My favorite subject is history, particularly, American history and Christian symbols
I find clinical field placements for our education students for the various methods courses they take throughout their college career, and I find teacher candidacy and/or internship placements for them as they finish their college careers. Also, part of my job description is to develop relationships with new schools and new teachers for added placement possibilities. Therefore I visit more than 20 schools a year to promote our EDU program. An important part of gaining new teachers to work with our students is our Cooperating Teacher Training Seminar (EDU 590), which I facilitate twice a year before the start of each semester.
In addition to my placement work, I help our School of Education keep in touch with EDU graduates in two ways. I contact all our EDU graduates to regularly update our knowledge of their personal and employment information. I contact our most recent graduates through the Lifeline Assistance Program (LAP). LAP seeks to help our recent graduates with questions about their Professional Development Plan (PDP) for continuing licensure as well as with any other questions that beginning teachers may have. I also serve as a PDP Goal Approval team member whenever asked to do so.
Related to my work as clinical experience coordinator, I also serve our students as the contact person for volunteer and paid job opportunities related to the field of education. People who need student workers contact me, and I broadcast the opportunities to our students.
As need arises and time permits, I also supervise clinical students and teacher candidates in the field and from time to time, I teach an EDU department class.
I have had articles published in the "Forward in Christ" and "Lutheran Parent" magazines. I wrote a quarter of the 5-6 grade "Christ Light" Bible History Series Teachers' Guide; AAL Calendar highlighting Christian Symbols; Teachers' Guide for WELS history book; Wrote one chapter of the WELS Principals' Handbook "Making the Pieces Fit" (Chapter 4 - School Management); and I have written a devotion book for Christian School Administrators.
