Move-Out Process

Wisconsin Lutheran College will resume the move-out process for resident students beginning Friday, May 8. This will be a coordinated effort so that the college can ensure the safety of people on campus as well as those coming to campus. Our process aligns with efforts to minimize the spread of COVID-19 while allowing for social distancing and cleaning.

  • Schedule your move-out

Resident students must sign up for a move-out date and time. Move-out slots of two hours each are available May 8-11, 14-18, and 21-24. If you prefer to move out after the local Safer at Home order is set to expire, a limited number of slots are available on May 27 and 28.

Use the appropriate link below to sign up for your move-out time slot.

During your scheduled move-out time, you can access your room, apartment, or house to retrieve your belongings. Residents must completely move out by the end of their time-slot to allow the next resident to enter. A complete move-out means that all of your possessions (excluding items provided by WLC) have been removed.

If you have extenuating circumstances and are unable to move out on a date listed above, please complete this form with an explanation of your circumstances and the date you expect to be able to move out. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    Move-out guidelines

    • WLC's campus is currently closed and many employees are working remotely. When you move out, do not plan to meet with faculty, staff, or other students, or enter a building other than your residence.

    • Please arrive during your scheduled time. If you come at a time other than your chosen time, you will not be granted access to the building. We are required to limit the number of people in our facilities based on CDC guidance and in compliance with Wisconsin’s Safer at Home order.

    • Once you arrive, you will have two hours to pack your belongings and get them out of the building to your vehicle. Time limits will be strictly enforced to limit the number of people in the building to ensure appropriate social distancing.

    • Residents are allowed to bring ONE adult (age 18 or older) to assist them. Both you and your move-out assistant must be free of COVID-19 symptoms. We strongly advise that you do not bring anyone to campus who has a pre-existing medical condition or a compromised immune system and is at a higher risk for severe illness from the virus.

    • Children, pets, and additional guests will NOT be permitted on campus during move-out.

    • We encourage everyone to wear a mask or face covering and wash their hands frequently. Please review the CDC guidelines on How to Protect Yourself and Others

    • WLC's maintenance staff will be cleaning elevator buttons, door handles, entrance areas, and common-area restrooms during scheduled move-out days. Please be patient and maintain a proper distance from them while they are cleaning these common areas.

    Move-out logistics

    • You may park in any WLC parking lot that is close to your building. No parking permit is needed and no tickets will be given to anyone parked in a designated parking stall on WLC property. However, do not park in a fire lane and do not park in a handicapped-accessible space without the appropriate credentials. Please do not block traffic or our neighbors' driveways.

    • A limited number of moving carts will be available, but you may wish to bring your own cart or dolly. WLC employees will not be able to help you move out.

    • Please bring your key so you can access your residence. Your Warrior OneCard will be programmed to give you building access during your scheduled move-out time.

    • RA desks will NOT be staffed during the move-out process. A phone number will be provided if you need assistance. An express check-out form will be provided, along with an envelope for your room key.

    • To minimize multi-contact items (cleaning spray, vacuums, brooms, etc.), we will not be providing cleaning supplies. Please pick-up your room to your best of your ability. WLC will thoroughly clean rooms after students have moved out.

    • There will be an additional dumpster placed behind Stimac Hall for your use. Please do not discard furniture in the dumpsters. The City of Milwaukee has suspended all street-side furniture pickup. Please take all furniture and large items with you.

    • Failure to follow proper checkout procedures, damage to your space, and excessive cleaning may result in fees or charges to your student account. This includes leaving trash or personal items behind that staff have to remove. WLC will not keep or store any items that are left behind.

    • Materials checked-out from the Schwan Library may be returned via the book drop at the library or on book-return carts located in Stimac, Fischer, and Aspire Halls.
