MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Lutheran College Theatre Department presents Charles Morey's Laughing Stock, March 27-29 and April 2-4. All performances take place in the Raabe Theatre. The Sunday show is at 3 p.m. while all others are at 8 p.m.
Directed by Milwaukee's own Gale Childs Daly, Laughing Stock takes place in The Playhouse, a rustic summer theatre that has scheduled a season of Dracula, Hamlet and Charley's Aunt to be performed. As one might expect, everything goes wrong. This hilarious play shows the magic that holds theatre companies together and causes theatre practitioners to continue to do what they love.
Daly, a director, playwright and text coach, has a career in professional theatre that spans 25 years. She received her B.A. at the University of Texas – El Paso, then went on to earn her master of fine arts degree from the Goodman School of Drama at the Art Institute of Chicago. Daly taught voice and speech for 12 years at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts/Theatrefest in Santa Maria, California. She also served as dialect coach for several productions at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and text coach for studio and main stage productions of Shakespeare plays.
The Raabe Theatre is located in the Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Avenue. For more information or to order tickets, call the box office at (414) 443-8802 or visit wlc.edu/arts.
