High-octane fiddle-fest comes to Wisconsin Lutheran College

December 22, 2008

MILWAUKEE  Barrage will perform at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Friday, January 30, 2009, at 8 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall.

Formed in Calgary, Canada, in 1996, Barrage consists of six violinists, a drummer, a guitarist and a bass player. They fuse different art forms with the intent to incorporate fiddling and traditional music styles with world-beat sounds. They believe that artistic experiences can motivate, educate cross cultural boundaries and still be fun. The result is a high-octane fiddle-fest that features international, multi-talented musicians performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance.

The music of Barrage continues to evolve combining contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements, and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. The young, lively cast delivers the show with amazing energy and musical virtuosity that will take your breath away. Fans in Europe, Asia and North America have enjoyed Barrage at international festivals, concert performances and TV appearances.

Barrage is sponsored in part by the Wisconsin Arts Board and Waterstone Bank. The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance at 8815 W.
