WLC Concert Band Set To Tour the Southwest

Date Posted: May 2, 2008

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band, conducted by Professor Terry Treuden, will tour the American Southwest from May 11 through May 20, performing concerts in Arizona, Nevada and California.

This tour is the farthest reaching undertaken by the 52-member college band to date. The varied performances feature classical and contemporary selections, marches and pops orchestra pieces. Stirring marches performed include On Wisconsin and the civil war piece Milwaukee Light Guard Quick Step. Johann Sebastian Bach’s stirring and technically demanding Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is performed. Also featured is Windy City Overture by Johan de Meij, a sweeping composition inspired by de Meij’s impressions of Chicago; its skyline, jazz clubs, and of course, its namesake winds.

All concerts on the tour are free and open to the public.
