They wrap up their midwest tour with a home concert on Friday, March 14 at 8 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall.

The choir will present a diverse, mostly a capella program of sacred and secular choral works in original languages. Works to be performed include W.A. Mozart’s Venite Populi, Rachmaninoff’s Slava v vyshnikh Bogu, Charles Wood’s Hail, Gladdening Light and F. Melius Christiansen’s well-known O Day Full of Grace. The Chamber Choir will present secular music including Eric Whitacre’s Sleep and Morton Lauridsen’s Sure on This Shining Night. The program in four parts concludes with favorite hymns and spirituals including Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel? Arranged by Moses Hogan, Amazing Grace, and the Wisconsin Lutheran Choir’s signature piece, Abide With Me, arranged by Lucy Hirt.

Dr. James Nowack, director of choral activities at Wisconsin Lutheran College since 1994, holds master of music degrees in piano performance and choral conducting from Kent State University and the University of Minnesota and a doctor of musical arts from the University of Iowa. In addition to teaching and directing at Wisconsin Lutheran, Nowack serves as guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator at conferences and conventions on a regional and national basis.

Under Nowack’s direction, the Wisconsin Lutheran Choir has developed a unified voice and a respected presence in the midwest. Representing talented, dedicated young adults from across the nation, the choir is comprised of 60 full-time undergraduate students.

The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Avenue. Wisconsin Lutheran College is a liberal arts college located on the west side of Milwaukee. Call the box office at (414) 443-8802 for ticket information.
