Mid-Winter Band Concert photo 2008MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band will present a mid-winter concert Sunday, February 24 at 3 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall.

The program includes Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach along with Psalm 46, a theme of variations on A Mighty Fortress is our God, commissioned by the Concordia College Band, St. Paul, Minnesota, which is certainly an audience favorite. A new composition, Bali, by Michael Colgrass is sure to be an interesting piece. As a minimalist work, it incorporates the use of unusual percussion instruments including aluminum bowls, ceramic pots and clay bowls tuned to the five notes of the Balinese scale.

The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Ave. Tickets may be purchased through the box office at (414) 443-8802 or online at wlc.edu/arts.

Wisconsin Lutheran College is a Christian liberal arts college located on the west side of Milwaukee.
