Poehlmann Art Exhibition Opens at Wisconsin Lutheran College

Books/Beasts/Boxes/Bats imageMILWAUKEE – On and Off the Wall:  Books, Beasts, Boxes, Bats by artist Joanna Poehlmann will be on display in the Schlueter Art Gallery from January 18 through February 15, 2008. An artist talk will take place Thursday, January 17 at 3:30 p.m. in the Reichel Lecture Hall with an opening reception on Friday, January 18 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Schlueter Art Gallery.

A native of Milwaukee, Poehlmann is known for her witty juxtapositions of words, objects and art creations. She employs printmaking, painting, drawing, collage, sculpture and found items in order to construct a charming world of lively conversation. On and Off the Wall:  Books, Beasts, Boxes, Bats is an array of taxidermal objects, delicately crafted artist books and finely rendered works on paper in this solo exhibit. Her work has won numerous awards and can be found in art collections throughout the world.

The Schlueter Art Gallery and Reichel Lecture Hall are located in the Center for Arts and Performance at 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday 1 – 9 p.m. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
