Winter Band Concert photoMILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band will present the Winter Concert Friday, December 7 at 8 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall. The program includes selections of the Christmas season and popular band compositions both contemporary and classical.

Featured Christmas pieces included the familiar, the whimsical and the ancient sounds of the season. A Joyful Christmas by Neil Richardson showcases O Little Town of Bethlehem, Unto Us a Child is Born and Ding Dong Merrily on High along with other songs in a four-movement composition. The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers provides the playfulness of a child’s-eye view of the holiday. Old English carols and a chance for the audience to sing along to Oh Come All Ye Faithful add a medieval feel to the concert.

The performance also includes classical music from Bach and selections from Richard Wagner’s masterpiece opera Die Meistersinger Von Nurnberg (The Mastersingers of Nurnberg). Contemporary pieces include the energetic Mangulina by Milwaukee native Paul Basler.

The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Ave. Tickets may be purchased through the box office at (414) 443-8802 or online at wlc.edu/arts
