Wisconsin Lutheran College Presents Fine Arts Fair and Entertainment

MILWAUKEE – The 2007 Fine Arts Fair is the third installment of the free Summer Arts in the Park concert series at Wisconsin Lutheran College which will be held Saturday, July 14, in the campus courtyard.

The Fine Arts Fair, which runs from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., will be a day full of art and entertainment. Visitors will enjoy fine art and craft booths, a silent auction and great food. A variety of continuous entertainment is provided on two stages throughout the day.

Milwaukee’s own Leahy’s Luck will start the day by performing Irish folk music at 9 a.m.  Comprised of two Leahy brothers and their talented children, this family act has produced four recordings and was named Wisconsin Area Music Industry’s 2001 World/Ethnic Group of the Year. Dancers from the Kinsella Academy of Dance will be appearing as part of the performance.

The Madison Brass quintet, one of Wisconsin’s finest and most versatile musical groups, will play at 10:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. This well-known regional ensemble has been performing throughout the Midwest since 1982. Their specialty is American Music ranging from 19th Century Civil War  pieces to 20th Century Dixieland, Ragtime, Blues, Marches and Big Band Swing.

The Kids from Wisconsin, an annual favorite of the Summer Arts in the Park series, will wrap up the entertainment with a two-hour performance of your favorite Broadway and pop tunes beginning at 2 p.m. This high energy troupe of young Wisconsin singers, dancers, and musicians never fails to delight crowds with a wide variety of tunes. The organization, dedicated to providing opportunities for musically gifted Wisconsin youth, has been in operation since 1969. 

Summer Arts in the Park events take place on the Wisconsin Lutheran campus courtyard located between Bluemound Road and Wisconsin Avenue at 89th Street. There is no charge for admission and tickets are not required. Audience members should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Concessions will be available throughout the day.
