Wisconsin Lutheran College Choirs to Give Christmas Festival Concert

MILWAUKEE - To usher in the holiday season, the Wisconsin Lutheran Choir, Chamber Choir and Chapel Choir will perform a Christmas Festival Concert of sacred works Friday and Saturday, December 1-2 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 3 at 3 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall. Tickets are $5 general, $4 seniors and $2 students and may be purchased through the box office at (414) 443-8802 or online at wlc.edu/arts.
The program will include "This Little Babe" from A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten, "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree" by Elizabeth Poston, "Ich Lasse Dich Nicht, Du Segnest Mich Denn (To thee will I cling, until I am blest)" by Johann Sebastian Bach and "African Noel" arranged by André Thomas. In addition, the audience is invited to sing along with familiar favorites including "Where Shepherds Lately Knelt," "Angels We Have Heard on High," "Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful" and "Joy to the World."
Milwaukee Public Television will broadcast this concert December 20 and 24 at 8 p.m.
The 58-voice Wisconsin Lutheran Choir and the 22-voice Chamber Choir perform under the direction of Dr. James Nowack. Ms. Carolyn Fons directs the 34-voice Chapel Choir. A festival orchestra will accompany the choirs for this perennial favorite. The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave.
