Simply Gershwin with Paul Bisaccia and John Whitley perform at Wisconsin Lutheran College

January 26, 2006

MILWAUKEE -Simply Gershwin with pianist Paul Bisaccia and vocalist John Whitley performs February 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall. Simply Gershwin offers music composed and arranged by George Gershwin, including "'S Wonderful," "I Got Rhythm," "Embraceable You," "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Summertime."

Bisaccia has made the music of George Gershwin his specialty. He was the first artist to record the complete solo piano music of Gershwin, and his PBS television special "Gershwin by Bisaccia" has been broadcast throughout the United States. The program was also dubbed into Mandarin Chinese for broadcast in Asia.

Whitley performs as a soloist and in ensemble with the nationally-known, all-male, a cappella group Mystery Date, which made its Carnegie Hall debut last year. Active and well known on the Manhattan cabaret scene, he is praised as a vocalist who performs with "great understanding, heart, and understated humor" (This Month on Stage, New York).

The Simply Gershwin concert is sponsored in part by the Wisconsin Arts Board. The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance at 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. Tickets are $21 general, $19 seniors and $8 students. To purchase tickets to the concert, call the WLC box office at (414) 443-8802 or visit wlc.edu/arts.

Since 1996, the Wisconsin Lutheran College Center for Arts and Performance has been providing a comprehensive program of performing and visual arts and educational and community events for students and the people of southeastern Wisconsin.
