Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band
to present mid-winter concert

February 28 concert will feature sacred music selections

MILWAUKEE  The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band will present its mid-winter concert titled "Gloria!" on Friday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall. The entire repertoire for the concert will feature sacred music selections.

2013-2014 Concert Band ActionThe concert will begin with Praise the Lord with Drums and Cymbals by Sigfrid Karg-Elert. Composed in 1913, the song is an arrangement of No. 5 'Handel' from Portraits, Vol. 1, Op. 101 for symphonic organ. Another selection, Salvation is Created, originally was composed as a choral work. It was one of the last sacred works Pavel Tschesnokoff composed before he was forced to turn to secular works by the Russian government. The concert concludes with Rejouissance, a fantasia on Ein Feste Burg (A Mighty Fortress Is Our God) by James Curnow.

The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased through the box office at 414.443.8802 or online.
