Fine Arts events abound at WLC
MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin Lutheran College will host several Fine Arts events in the Center for Arts & Performance during February and March.
Art Gallery Opening: The opening reception for Emerging Expression: WLC's Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition will take place Friday, February 10 from 6-8 p.m. in the Schlueter Art Gallery. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs through March 30.
Wind Symphony Concert: The Martin Luther College Wind Symphony from New Ulm, Minnesota, will visit WLC to present its free spring tour concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 11 in the Schwan Concert Hall.
Student Theatre Production: Lovers and the Like is an original play written by WLC senior Deanna Strasse. This Student Showcase production runs February 15-18, with all performances at 8 p.m. in the Raabe Theatre. For a description of the play, visit the Theatre Department's 2011-2012 season page.
Guest Artist Series: Several Guest Artist Series events will be held in the Schwan Concert Hall, including Embraceable You: Music of George Gershwin (February 14), organist Clive Driskill-Smith (February 19), Presidio Brass (March 2), Rhythm of the Dance (March 15), and the Kenya Safari Acrobats (March 27).
Mid-Winter Band Concert: The WLC Concert Band performs its mid-winter concert on Saturday, March 3 at 8 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall. During the concert, guest artists Presidio Brass, an ensemble from San Diego, will perform the world premiere of their arrangement of "Rhapsody in Blue."
Choral Concert: The Wisconsin Lutheran Choir and Chamber Choir will perform their home concert on Friday, March 23 at 8 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall. The concert is the final one of their 2012 Southeastern Tour. The event is free, but tickets are required.
