Chamber Strings to perform concert on Mother's Day
Free event features a mother-daughter collaboration
MILWAUKEE – If you are looking for a Mother's Day treat, come to a special concert on Sunday, May 8 with the Chamber Strings of Wisconsin Lutheran College, conducted by Jerome Franke.
The 4:30 p.m. performance will highlight the mother-daughter collaboration of Samantha George (associate professor of violin at Lawrence University) and Patricia George (internationally known flute pedagogue and consulting editor of Flute Talk Magazine). Dr. Juanita Becker, associate professor of music at Wisconsin Lutheran College, will perform as well.
The hour-long concert in the Schwan Concert Hall is free and open to the public. It showcases Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, Corelli's Concerto Grosso No. 1, and a suite of English folk songs by American composer Thom Ritter George.
The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 W. Wisconsin Avenue.
