MILWAUKEE – The 2010 Fine Arts Fair, the marquee event of the free Summer Arts in the Park concert series at Wisconsin Lutheran College, will be held Saturday, July 10, in the campus courtyard.
The Fine Arts Fair, which runs from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., will be a day full of art and entertainment. Visitors will enjoy fine art and craft booths, a silent auction and great food. A variety of continuous entertainment is provided on two stages throughout the day.
The Milwaukee Festival Brass will start the day at 9 a.m. by featuring some of the most capable brass players from the Milwaukee metro area.
The New South Rampart Street Paraders, a collection of some of Milwaukee's finest traditional jazz musicians, takes the stage at 10 a.m. Most of the guys in the band have been playing together providing the hottest Dixieland music in the area for over 25 years.
At noon, Tom Anthony performs the music of such artists as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Buddy Holly, Tom Jones, The Platters, The Righteous Brothers, Roy Orbison, and more. Anthony captivates audiences with charisma and a smooth vocal style that captures the sound of the original artists while still maintaining his own feel.
The Kids from Wisconsin, an annual favorite of the Summer Arts in the Park series, will wrap up the entertainment with a two-hour performance of your favorite Broadway and pop tunes beginning at 2 p.m. This high energy troupe of young Wisconsin singers, dancers, and musicians never fails to delight crowds with a wide variety of tunes. The organization, dedicated to providing opportunities for musically gifted Wisconsin youth, has been in operation since 1969.
Summer Arts in the Park takes place at 8800 West Bluemound Road on the campus courtyard located between Bluemound Road and Wisconsin Avenue at 89th Street. The performances will be held indoors if raining. Food and beverages will be available for purchase starting at 5 p.m. Wisconsin Lutheran College is an alcohol-free campus.
