Community Learning through America’s Schools (CLASS) Grant is a volunteer organization run every year by Wisconsin Lutheran College’s (WLC) Future Teachers’ Education Association (FTEA). A grant was submitted to the National Education Association and approved. The project’s theme is Building Leaders and encourages volunteers to engage in leadership opportunities by participating in a diverse range of activities in their communities.

Africa is Coming to Wisconsin Lutheran College

Wisconsin Lutheran College is hosting the National Geographic giant traveling map of Africa, April 10-12, 2008, in the Recreation Complex. The map is traveling throughout the state as part of a program presented by the Wisconsin Geographic Alliance (WiGA). On April 10 and 11, Milwaukee-area Lutheran grade school and middle school students have been invited to participate in a hands-on interactive learning session with the map. On April 12, the public is invited to explore the map from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. free of charge.

Beginning Friday, April 11, the graduating art majors at Wisconsin Lutheran College present a final thesis exhibition. The nine seniors will display a variety of artwork, including photography, painting, sculpture and mixed media. Theatre Department Production Accepted in the Regional 2008 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

This comedy is centered on the character Rosalind, the largest female role Shakespeare created. Milwaukee Cellist Returns to Perform Works of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Bartok at WLC

Wisconsin Lutheran One of Best Liberal Arts Colleges in Nation

For the sixth consecutive year, Wisconsin Lutheran College has been ranked among the best colleges by the U.S.News & World Report in its America’s Best Colleges. This year, WLC was moved from the regional Midwest category to the national category of “Best Liberal Arts Colleges.” The move places the college with such prestigious company as Amherst, Grinnell, Bryn Mawr and Vassar. Wisconsin Lutheran is one of only five Wisconsin colleges ranked in the top three tiers of the category.

Wisconsin Lutheran College Art Exhibition Takes Flight

The Bird as Visual Image is the next art exhibition at Wisconsin Lutheran College. The exhibition opens September 7 with a gallery talk from 3 – 4:15 p.m. in the Reichel Lecture Hall followed by an opening reception from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Schlueter Art Gallery. Both events take place at 8815 West Wisconsin Avenue in the Center for Arts and Performance. The exhibition runs through October 12, 2007.

Educational and Motivational Speaker to address Early Childhood Conference

Bradley Smith, nationally known adult educator and motivational speaker, will lead the 16th annual Wisconsin Lutheran College Early Childhood Conference on Saturday, September 15, 2007. The all day session runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The registration fee is $40 and includes continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments.
