Jamaican Communication and Transportation
As of 2002, 444,440 main line telephones were in use with over 1.4 million cell phones in use. There are two daily newspapers - The Daily Gleaner and the Jamaica Observer. Several community newspapers are also being printed. Sixteen radio stations and three television stations provide news and entertainment for the Jamaican people.
There are 272 km of railways and a total of 18,700 km of highways to travel on. Five marine ports service Jamaica: Kingston, Port Esquivel, Port Kaiser, Port Rhodes and Rocky Point. There are 11 airports with paved runways.
