Women’s Basketball lands four players on all-conference list

VERONA – Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown), Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran), Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) and Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) each were honored by the Northern Athletics Conference as the awards for the 2007-08 women’s basketball season were announced Tuesday.

Dillon and Emily Laete were both named to the All-NAC First Team, while Lindert and Erika Laete received Second Team All-NAC and All-Rookie Team honors, respectively.

Dillon finished fifth in the NAC in scoring at 16.8 points per game. She led Wisconsin Lutheran in field goal percentage (46.1 percent) and tied for the team-lead in three-pointers made (52).

Despite missing eight games due to injury, Emily Laete led the Warriors in scoring at 17.1 points per game. She put up 25.7 points per game during the final four games of the season. Finishing her career with 1,503 points, Laete moves up to third all-time in career scoring.

Lindert, who was one of three players to average double-figures for WLC, posted 14.3 points per game and shot a team-leading 86 percent (63-73) from the free-throw line. 

Erika Laete, who played in all 28 games, was the Warriors’ top rebounder in NAC games, grabbing 6.6 rebounds per game.

Wisconsin Lutheran, which finished 18-10 overall and tied for second in the NAC at 14-4, captured its third conference tournament championship in school history. The 18-win season is the highest win total under fourth-year head coach Klay Knueppel and the most since 2002-03. 

Edgewood College's Megan Scheele was named NAC Player of the Year and Marche Smith of Concordia University Chicago was named NAC Rookie of the Year. Stacey Brunner of Concordia University Wisconsin was named NAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Laete named NAC Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

VERONA – The Northern Athletics Conference has named senior forward Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) as its women’s basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday. 

Laete averaged 25.3 points per game this past week as she led Wisconsin Lutheran to three conference tournament wins and the 2008 NAC Women's Basketball Tournament Championship. She scored 27, 18 and a season-high 31 points in wins over Aurora University, Concordia University Chicago and Edgewood College, respectively.

For the week, she shot 48 percent (30-62) from the floor, including 9-of-19 from beyond the three-point arc, and averaged 5.3 rebounds per game.
