VERONA - Senior outside hitter Rachel Hermanson (Antioch, Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) and freshman middle hitter Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) have both been honored by the Northern Athletics Conference as the league released its awards for the 2007 women's volleyball season earlier today.
Hermanson, the only senior on the roster, was named to the All-NAC Second Team after finishing the season second on the team with 172 kills, an average of 1.77 kills per game. She also totaled 40 blocks, good for third on the team.
Laete, an All-Rookie Team selection, led the Warriors in total blocks with 87 and tied for second on the team in kills per game at 1.81. She finished third in NAC with 1.11 blocks per game in conference games only.
Lakeland College's Brittanie Paulus was named NAC Player of the Year while LC coach Chad Schreiber was named Coach of the Year.
Erin Kiesow of Concordia University Wisconsin was selected as NAC Defensive Player of the Year. Kayla Leyden of Benedictine University was selected as the top freshman player and named NAC Rookie of the Year.

LA CROSSE – The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team ended its 2007 season with a 30-15, 30-17, 30-12 loss to No. 17 UW-La Crosse in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.
Rachel Hermanson (Antioch, Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) and Megan Sankey (Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) led Wisconsin Lutheran offensively with five kills each. Ashley Madsen (Watertown, Wis./Luther Preparatory) finished with 12 assists.
Defensively, Sankey and Jaclyn Sack (Granger, Ind./Michigan Lutheran) finished had 10 digs each.
Katelyn Carlson recorded a double-double for UW-La Crosse (22-8) with 10 kills and 16 digs.
Wisconsin Lutheran finishes its 2007 season with an overall record of 8-19 and 4-8 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
