MADISON – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women’s tennis team finished in fifth place out of 11 teams at the Northern Athletics Conference Championship on Sunday at Neilson Tennis Stadium.
The Warriors finished in fifth place with a total of 45 points. They entered tournament play with 12 points, gained from their six NAC dual wins during the regular season.
The Warriors’ best finish of the tournament came at No. 3 doubles where Shannon Censky (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and Alycia Spriggs (Slinger, Wis./Luther Preparatory) made it to the finals before falling 8-0 to Emily Buchinger and Katie Fox of Concordia (Wis.).
Kara Spiegelhoff (Union Grove, Wis./Union Grove) and Rachel Wendt (Neenah, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) were the next highest Warrior finishers as they ended up placing fourth at No. 1 doubles. Hannah Tullberg (Milwaukee, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and Tanya Droster (Watertown, Wis./Luther Preparatory) placed fifth at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Spiegelhoff finished seventh at No. 1. At No. 2, Wendt placed sixth overall. Censky placed eighth overall at No. 3 singles. Tullberg finished sixth overall at No. 4 singles. Spriggs and Droster each finished in fifth place at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Concordia-Wisconsin won its second consecutive tournament championship as they compiled 97 points, winning seven of the nine championship matches.
Wisconsin Lutheran ends its 2007 fall season with a 6-8 overall record and 6-4 in the NAC.

BELOIT – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women’s tennis team closed out their regular season schedule on Sunday by falling to Beloit College 8-1 and later dropping a 7-2 match to the Loras College Duhawks.
In Wisconsin Lutheran’s 8-1 opening match loss to Beloit, Hannah Tullberg (Milwaukee, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and Tanya Droster (Watertown, Wis./Luther Preparatory) picked up the Warriors lone win at No. 2 doubles with an 8-5 win over Sidra Montgomery and Laura Grogan.
In WLC’s 7-2 loss to Loras, Tullberg won at No. 4 singles by defeating Molly Hepworth 6-3, 7-6. Kara Spiegelhoff (Union Grove, Wis./Union Grove) teamed up with Rachel Wendt (Neenah, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) at No. 1 doubles to earn an 8-5 win over Alisha Espey and Lindsay Dunkirk.
Wisconsin Lutheran (6-8, 6-4 NAC) will have some time off before it competes in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament on Oct. 6 and 7 at the Nielson Tennis Stadium in Madison.
