VERONA – Six student-athletes from the Wisconsin Lutheran College men’s soccer team, along with head coach Joe Luedke, were honored by the Northern Athletics Conference as the postseason awards were released on Wednesday for the 2007 men’s soccer season.
Luedke was named co-Coach of the Year after he led the Warriors to school-record 10 wins, including a 6-3-1 mark in conference play and a trip to the NAC Tournament.
Senior defender Jake Jankowski (Muskego, Wis./Muskego), who started all 20 games, was named First Team All-NAC after he led the Warriors with 12 goals scored. He finished second in NAC competition in goals scored with 10. He also dished out two assists. It is the third straight season that Jankowski received all-conference honors.
Edgar Albarran (Kenosha, Wis./Bradford), Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) and Mike Wier (Greendale, Wis./Heritage Christian) were Second Team All-NAC selections. Albarran, a junior midfielder, led WLC in shots attempted with 43. He scored five goals and was credited for a team-high six assists. A sophomore goalkeeper, Eisold played in 20 games finished with 123 saves, an average of 6.15 saves per game in playing just over 85 minutes per game. Wier, a senior midfielder who also started all 20 games, scored three goals and added four assists while tallying 26 shots.
Senior defender Jim Sexton (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) was an NAC Honorable Mention pick after he started all 20 games and scored one goal.
Freshman forward Darren Festerling (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) rounded-out the Warriors’ all-conference picks as he was tabbed a NAC All-Rookie Team selection. In 15 games, Festerling netted seven goals, second highest on the team, while attempting 27 shots.
Wisconsin Lutheran finished its 2007 season with a 10-9-1 overall, including 6-3-1 in the NAC, making consecutive appearances in the NAC Tournament.

MEQUON – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men’s soccer team saw its season come to an end on Monday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin in the first round of the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament.
The No. 4 seeded Falcons, who defeated No. 5 seed Wisconsin Lutheran 4-2 in their first meeting of the season on October 20, scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of the opening half for a 2-0 lead.
Concordia’s Brian Nord, who tallied a hat trick, netted the first two Falcon goals in the ninth and 13th minute, respectively. The Warriors trailed 2-0 heading into intermission.
The Falcons scored two more second half goals in the 62nd of 85th minute off the foot of Nord and David Bringer, respectively, for what would turn out to be the final 4-0 margin.
Despite eight corner kick attempts, WLC managed only three shots in the contest, opposed to 19 for Concordia. Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) and Alex Vogel (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) combined to make 10 saves in the game.
Wisconsin Lutheran finishes its 2007 with an overall record of 10-9-1 overall and 6-3-1 in NAC play. The 10-win season is the most in WLC men’s soccer history.
