Charitable Challenge 2010
Five student groups from Wisconsin Lutheran College spent 20 days making impact in Milwaukee by helping local families, programs, and charitable organizations. The 2010 Kapco Charitable Challenge groups started out with $1,000 each from Kapco Metal Stamping's president Jim Kacmarcik, then raised $25,000 in cash and products via donations of money, food, personal care items, clothing, and books.
First-round winner Team Effect advanced to compete against teams from Concordia University and Marquette University. The 10-day second round began February 18, with each team receiving $2,000 to continue their mission. Team Effect finished the library space at La Causa; gave Michael, their "wish" child, and his family many memorable experiences; and performed several random acts of kindness.
At the Challenge's final event, held at Discovery World in Milwaukee on March 4, Kapco Metal Stamping president Jim Kacmarcik announced that Team Vista from Concordia had taken the top prize. During the 30-day Challenge, teams from the three schools raised more than $250,000 to help people in the Milwaukee area and reached more than 900,000 people with their missions.
