Milwaukee, WI - Wisconsin Lutheran College is seeking adult community member musicians to join the WLC Concert Band. Interested persons should have experience playing an instrument and feel confident they can play in an ensemble. This an unpaid, volunteer opportunity. Rehearsals have begun for the spring semester, but musicians are still welcome to join.
“We are looking for adults who enjoy playing and want a fun outlet to make music and share this special gift from God with others,” said Daniel Hubert, M.M.Ed., assistant professor of music and director of instrumental music at WLC. “The 'communiversity' band model, combining students with community members to form a band, is not unique to higher education and presents both groups with rewarding experiences through learning from each other.”
The Concert Band rehearses Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4:45 to 6:00 p.m. in the Wolf Rehearsal Hall in the Center for Arts and Performance (8815 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee) on WLC's campus. As part of the experience, community band members will perform at two concerts - the Mid-Winter Band Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28 and the Spring Band Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8. Both concerts are open to the public and will be held at the Schwan Concert Hall in WLC's Center for Arts and Performance. There is also potential for travel with the band on the college's tour to Toronto and Niagara Falls in May.
