During WLC's inaugural Parent and Family Day on Saturday, October 7, you are invited to visit campus and participate in a variety activities for people of all ages. Take a class, watch the Warriors Homecoming football game at Raabe Stadium, meet other WLC families, faculty, and staff, enjoy the local cuisine, tour the campus - and of course see your favorite college student!

If you want to visit for the weekend, we've included events taking place on Friday and Sunday as well. Make the weekend your own! Check out the list of activities below.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6

Band and Choir Fall Showcase Concert
7:30 p.m. 
Center for Arts and Performance - Schwan Concert Hall

If you arrive Friday night, make plans to attend the first college music performance of the 2017-2018 season with the WLC Concert Band and Wisconsin Lutheran Choir and Chamber Choir. 

After the Fall Showcase Concert, families are invited to a private dessert reception to meet and mingle with other WLC families and WLC music faculty.

Family Continental Breakfast
9:00 a.m.          
Center for Arts and Performance - Lobby

Join WLC faculty and staff for breakfast prior to enjoying your day at WLC.

Free Family Day
9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.        
Milwaukee County Zoo

Visit your favorite animals at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Admission is free on Saturday. Parking rates still apply, but the zoo is just a short walk west from campus on Bluemound Road.

Meet President Johnson, learn more about the day's schedule, and be the first audience to see a special movie made just for you.

  • On Location - with Prof. Kristin Gjerdset, Associate Professor of Art
  • An Introduction to Coral Reef Ecology - with Dr. Robert Anderson, Professor of Biology
  • Environment, Diet, and Craniofacial Development: Studying the Mixed Subsistence Strategies of Great Lakes Watershed Cultures, AD 900-1600 - with Dr. Ned Farley, Assistant Professor of Anthropology
  • Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Age - with Prof. Steven Zambo, Assistant Professor of Communication, Digital Cinema and Media
  • Animal Transgenics and Cloning - with Dr. Robert Balza, Associate Professor of Biology

Warriors Family Fun
10:15 to 11:45 a.m.
Campus Quad

Younger siblings can enjoy a variety of games, crafts, and activities while parents partake in the Mini Class Experience.

Campus Tours
Available 12:00 to 2:30 p.m.

If you haven't had the opportunity to experience everything WLC has to offer, take a campus tour and get a behind-the-scenes look into your college student's life.

Transitional Mediums Art Exhibition
Center for Arts and Performance - Schlueter Art Gallery

Visit the Schlueter Art Gallery in the Center for Arts and Performance during regular building hours to see the current exhibition, "Transitional Mediums," which features drawings, watercolors, and videos by Milwaukee artist Todd Mrozinski.



SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7

Homecoming Football Game
1:00 p.m.
Outdoor Recreation Complex - Raabe Stadium

Complimentary shuttles will be available to transport you starting at noon to Raabe Stadium, where you can watch our Warriors football team take on the Rockford Regents. Admission to the football game is included with your registration for the weekend's activities.

Make sure you visit the WLC Parent Hospitality Area at the north end of Raabe Stadium, where you'll find beverages and treats just for you! 



SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7

Warrior Men's and Women's Soccer Matches
2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
Milwaukee School of Engineering

Transportation will be provided to Milwaukee School of Engineering, where you can watch our Warriors soccer teams take on the Raiders. Separate entry fee to the game is required.


 

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8

Worship Service
10:30 a.m.
Wisconsin Lutheran College Chapel

Attend WLC's weekly student worship service.


 

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8

Brunch
11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Campus Center - Courtyard Café

Enjoy brunch with your student before you head home. Pay for your meals in the Courtyard Café.


 

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8

Faculty and Guest Artist Recital
2:30 p.m.
Center for Arts and Performance - Schwan Concert Hall

Attend a recital featuring WLC's own Dr. Juanita Becker along with guest artist Dr. Sheri Mattson. Free; no tickets required.
